Obama vs. McCain pt. 2

McCain:

Prisoner of War
War Hero
Navy Captain
Served in the House of Representatives (1982)
Elected to US Senate (1986)
Has voted with Conservative Party
Has voted against Conservative Party
Opposes Pork Barrel Spending
Has served in office for 26 years

Cons of McCain:

Was associated with the Keating 5, however, was cleared of impropriety but criticized for poor judgment. (the other 4 of the Keating 5 were Democrats by the way. 1 was severely repremanded, 2 were criticized for improper actions.)

According to the report on the Keating 5 - The report also said that McCain's "actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him....Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate."

Obama:

Member of Illinois Senate starting 1997
Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs for 1 year in 2007
Junior Senator since 2005
Has served in office for 11 years

Cons of Obama:

Has associations with, Jew Hater Farrakhan, White hater Rev. Wright, Convicted Terrorist William Ayers, and was unapologetic for his associations until they became a political issue, even going as far as to say he could not denounce Rev. Wright. Then instead of denouncing them, he made excuses for their ideologies, then in the end denounced them (other than Ayers) when it became too much of a hot issue.

Spent most of his time in office voting "present" to yes or no issues, as in "I have no opinion." Mostly because he wanted to get re-elected and didn't want an issue stopping him from either side.

Believes not only in Late term abortions, but voted for a bill that would have allowed aborted babies born alive, be smothered to death.

Voted FOR a Bush energy bill that would have Costed America plenty.

Has called blue-collar workers bitter Americans clinging to guns, religion and racism.

Has had dealings with a known slum-lord and now indited Tony Rezko.

In 2005 Obama purchased a new home in the Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (which was $300,000 below the asking price but represented the highest offer on the property) on the same day that Rezko's wife, Rita Rezko, purchased the adjoining empty lot from the same sellers for the full asking price.

After it had been reported in 2006 that Rezko was under federal investigation for influence-peddling, Obama purchased a 10 foot wide strip of Ms. Rezko's property for $104,500, $60,000 above the assessed value.

According to Chicago Sun-Times columnist, Mark Brown, "Rezko definitely did Obama a favor by selling him the 10-foot strip of land, making his own parcel less attractive for development." Obama acknowledges that the exchange may have created the appearance of impropriety, and stated "I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it."

Tony Rezko has also raised money for Obama's campaign, and in his earliest days in office, Obama cut Rezko in on taxpayer funds.
